🇺🇸 Who Can Become a Legionnaire?
To qualify, you must meet all of the following:

Branch of Service: Served in the

Army
-
Navy
-
Air Force
-
Marines
-
Coast Guard
-
Space Force
-
Merchant Marine (only eligible for service between Dec 7, 1941 – Dec 31, 1946)

Service Requirement:

Assigned to at least one day of federal active duty
-
Served any time after December 7, 1941 (eligibility dates remain open until the end of hostilities as determined by the U.S. Government)

Discharge Status:
-
Received an honorable discharge or discharge under honorable conditions
-
Or, are currently serving in one of the eligible branches
-

You don’t need to have served overseas—just federal active duty counts.

National Guard and Reserve members may be eligible if they meet the federal active duty requirement.

Documentation like a DD-214 or other proof of service is typically required.
